About the Founder
James “Jim” Taylor is a retired Military Major and strategic healthcare informatics executive with more than 30 years of experience across the full spectrum of clinical laboratory science. His career includes leadership roles in General Lab, Microbiology, and Blood Bank, as well as enterprise‑level informatics and configuration support. During his tenure with the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Jim served as the founding Solution Owner for the PathNet enterprise laboratory capability, where he built the support infrastructure that powered the global, multi‑billion‑dollar MHS GENESIS deployment across more than 500 laboratories. His work consistently bridged the gap between technical configuration and frontline clinical reality, ensuring enterprise systems reflected the operational truth of the laboratory bench.
Jim founded Keystone Laboratory Consulting to bring that same clarity, honesty, and operational grounding to organizations navigating complex laboratory configuration and EHR deployments. His approach emphasizes practical configuration, workflows that reflect real human practice, and inclusive change management that empowers technicians and clinicians alike. Through Keystone, he continues to champion solutions that honor the people doing the work, ensuring technology supports—not obstructs—the mission of modern laboratory operations.
